Kasulu's Green Future Takes Root!

Hon. Isaac Mwakisu, the District Commissioner of Kasulu, officially launched a transformative tree-planting initiative in Mukuti Forest, Nyumbingwa Ward. Under the "Misitu Yetu, Urithi Wetu" program, 25,000 trees are being planted across 15 acres, paving the way for environmental restoration and sustainable livelihoods. Implemented by DRST with funding from GEF through UNDP, this initiative empowers eight community groups with eco-friendly income opportunities like poultry farming and beekeeping and honey products processing. Together, we're safeguarding our forests and securing a greener tomorrow!

Addressing Poverty for People Living with HIV through Kitchen Gardening and Promoting PrEP and Self-Testing. Supported by PEPFAR

DRST has launched a new project titled Addressing Poverty for People Living with HIV through Kitchen Gardening and Promoting PrEP and Self-Testing Demand for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kasulu District, Kigoma. During the launch, health stakeholders and organizations involved in health were invited. The guest of honor was Jesca P. Lebba, Regional Medical Officer for Kigoma Region.

DRST named the best performing partner of the Ambassador's Fund for HIV/AIDS Relief (AFHR)

Dr. Michael Anthony Battle, Sr. DRST has received this recognition as the best-performing partner of AFHR for this year. The successes have been attributed to our stakeholders' engagement and partnership model, adaptive learning and technology, and embrace of technical excellence and data-driven programming. We have successfully empowered People with Disabilities (PWDs) in Kasulu Town Council through a comprehensive approach, enhancing HIV prevention and treatment with a focus on disability inclusivity.

U.S. Ambassador Dr. Michael A. Battle Visits DRST Kasulu

U.S. Ambassador Dr. Michael A. Battle, accompanied by a delegation, recently visited DRST Kasulu in Kigoma. The purpose of their visit was to assess the services provided through the support of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), managed by DRST.

Girls and women's platforms Project

Disability Relief Services Tanzania launched a project on September 5, 2023, in Kasulu District to promote girls and women's platforms, inclusive of PSN, to foster peace, reduce gender-based violence, and empower them in evidence-based advocacy, holding government and humanitarian actors accountable in both the host community and Nyarugusu refugee camp. This project is donated by the Canada Fund for Local Initiative (CFLI). The guest of honor was Isaac Mwakisu, District Commissioner of Kasulu.

The youth of Kasulu conducted a rapid climate vulnerability assessment to pinpoint areas needing urgent intervention. This community-driven initiative aims to identify and address vulnerabilities to build a resilient community.

Building Unity: Nyarugusu and Bugaga Youth Dialogue

Young people from Nyarugusu Refugee Camp and Bugaga Village came together in a peaceful coexistence dialogue aimed at building mutual trust and social cohesion. Held in Bugaga, Kasulu, Kigoma, Tanzania, this initiative was supported by ActionAid Tanzania (Action Aid Tz).

Compassionate Care: DRST leads efforts in rescuing and rehabilitating donkeys in flood-affected refugee camps in Kigoma Region, ensuring their welfare and safety.
