Social Protection Interventions for People with Special Needs

Our Social Protection Interventions program at Disability Relief Services Tanzania (DRS-Tz) is dedicated to providing essential support to two vulnerable groups: people with special needs and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW). By focusing on these populations, we aim to address their unique needs and promote their well-being and empowerment.

Program Objectives:

  1. Support for Education: Our program ensures that primary and secondary school AGYW from disadvantaged households have the necessary resources to continue their education. We provide financial assistance, school supplies, and other essential resources to enable them to access quality education and pursue their academic goals.

  2. Preventing Vulnerability: For out-of-school vulnerable AGYW aged 15-24, our program offers crucial support to prevent them from falling into poverty and becoming susceptible to exploitation. Through targeted interventions, we aim to empower these young women, provide them with opportunities for skill development and economic independence, and reduce their vulnerability to adverse circumstances.

How We Help:

  1. Financial Assistance: We provide financial support to cover school fees, uniforms, books, and other educational expenses for AGYW from poor households, ensuring that they can continue their education without financial barriers.

  2. Resource Provision: In addition to financial assistance, we provide essential resources such as school supplies, sanitary products, and hygiene kits to AGYW, addressing their practical needs and promoting their well-being.

  3. Skill Development: For out-of-school vulnerable AGYW, we offer skill development programs and vocational training opportunities to equip them with the necessary skills for employment and economic empowerment.

  4. Empowerment: Our program focuses on empowering AGYW by building their confidence, enhancing their self-esteem, and fostering leadership skills. We aim to create a supportive environment where they can thrive and realize their full potential.
